Both sentenced to death, one by hemlock poisoning, the other by crucifixion, Socrates and Jesus refuse to save themselves by giving up their own faith and philosophy, choosing death as an untimely testimony to the principles that each stood for. Although neither left anything written, both have had an enormous influence on the world.
